Actually, one-time pads where the pad is derived from a truly random
sequence are unbreakable.

Good algorithmic encryption systems are said to be computationally
infeasible to break. They talk about how many thousands of years would all
of the computers on the planet have to work to break the code.... DES is
an old algorithm produced by the government, it has long since ceased to be
state of the art.

All encryption can be cracked. It's just a matter of time (and computer
power).
