Business Contribution:
An Electronic Commerce Administrator is responsible for support and
development of electronic commerce relationships. This includes working with
trading partners and Clients business system users to create and maintain
trading relationships and information exchanges in support of business
processes. Functions include coordination and negotiation of start up and
modification of trading relationships, technical tasks related to
manipulating the data, and ongoing monitoring and maintenance of data flows.



Key Responsibilities:
1.EDI System Administration:
-In conjunction with supporting programmers, system administrators, and
database administrators provide for the administration of the hardware and
software products that support the electronic commerce area.
-Able to navigate and perform administration, and configuration functions in
the tools supporting electronic commerce.

2.Business Consulting:
-Provide consulting support to Clients business personnel as to the
electronic commerce capabilities of Clients available to them in support of
their businesses.
-Provide training and information for Clients business personnel in general
support of electronic commerce transactions affecting them. How those
transactions flow in and out of both Clients and external applications.
-Provide training and information to Clients business personnel in reading
and interpreting both error and routine outputs produced by electronic
commerce transactions affecting them.
-In conjunction with Clients business personnel, evaluate customers to put
together lists of electronic commerce opportunities.
-In conjunction with Clients business personnel, contact customers on behalf
of Clients to find out if they are electronic commerce capable, get
specifications and testing procedures required to establish a trading
relationship.
-In conjunction with Clients business personnel, create plans to implement
trading relationships on behalf of Clients.

3.Data Manipulation:
-Create specifications and testing procedures required to establish a
trading relationship.
-Map business documents according to Clients internal and trading partners
specifications. Test and verify data inputs and outputs with ERP and
communication sessions, and move into production. Communicate customer and
internal compliance with appropriate Clients and trading partner
departments.
-Generate required documentation for future analysis, troubleshooting,
maintenance, and enhancement of developed trading relationships and
software.
-Development work must be in conformance with established methodology and
procedures in use by Clients IT.

4.Transaction Monitoring:
-Continuously monitor and review exception and error reporting and messages.
Troubleshoot problems and react appropriately to ensure transactions flow as
intended.
-Assist business users in review and interpretation of exception and error
reporting and other electronic commerce related messages as needed.
-Access value added network (VAN) and or customer applications, data stores,
or websites for error handling, resending or retrieving transactions, and
support issues.
-In conjunction with supporting programmer analysts, systems administrators,
and database administrators; report and react to issues with Clients
electronic commerce infrastructure.

5.Infrastructure vendor support:
-Review monthly invoices from value added networks, code with appropriate
account numbers and forward to appropriate Accounts Payable departments.
-Setup and administer new mailboxes and mail slots as required.
-Work to ensure that Clients is receiving the best pricing available for
services provided by value added networks.
-Maintain knowledge of available version upgrades, revisions, or fixes
available from vendors of tools in use and bring these to the attention of
IT management for implementation.

6.Project management and reporting:
-In conjunction with external partners and Clients business personnel,
coordinate and manage planning for setup of new electronic commerce
relationships. This to include generation of agreed specifications, test
plans, and trading schedules.
-Provide estimates of the times required to implement electronic commerce
relationships.
-In conjunction with external partners, Clients business personnel, and
Clients IT personnel, manage execution of setup of new electronic commerce
relationships. This to include completion of software artifacts required to
implement agreed specifications, satisfactory execution of test plans, and
implementation of trading schedules.
-Run queries in both electronic commerce and business applications to
validate electronic commerce transaction results as required.
-Run queries in both electronic commerce and business applications to obtain
electronic commerce statistics as required. Report this data in various
formats as required.
-Provide other project management and reporting as required to implement,
execute, and control electronic commerce projects.

7.Ongoing support and special Projects:
-Troubleshoot electronic commerce related issues and errors.
-Work with users, software vendors, technical team, and support groups to
debug and resolve issues.
-Maintain awareness of new technology related to electronic commerce tools
and applications.
-Maintain involvement in the electronic commerce user community to take
advantage of knowledge base, software direction, and trends.
-Provide hiring interview support for new electronic commerce employee
candidates.
-Miscellaneous electronic commerce research and development projects
-Other duties as assigned.


Required Capabilities:

Core Competencies:
To hold the position of Electronic Commerce Administrator at Clients, an
individual will be able to:

1.Demonstrate the ability to configure and administer the tools used for
electronic commerce:
-Demonstrate the ability in the tools supporting electronic commerce to
navigate and perform administration and configuration functions.
-Demonstrate the ability to configure the tools supporting electronic
commerce to meet the needs of business personnel.
-Demonstrate an ability to perform common tool or application administration
tasks such as (but not limited to): add or delete users, change user
security, schedule jobs, utilize user communication mechanisms, and other
application administration tasks as appropriate to the tool.
-Demonstrate a general knowledge of the tool architectures.
-Demonstrate an understanding of the data models of the tools.
-Demonstrate an understanding of the security model of the tools.
-Demonstrate an understanding of the data store(s) of the tools.

2.Demonstrate the ability to map data and set up data flows for electronic
commerce:
-Demonstrate the ability to set up and coordinate resources within Clients,
trading partners, associated value added networks, and or other involved
parties to facilitate development and testing of electronic commerce trading
relationships.
-Exhibit an understanding of electronic commerce standards and functions.
-Demonstrate the ability to navigate, and perform mapping and data flow
functions in the tools supporting electronic commerce.
-Demonstrate understanding and ability to use built-in packages, objects,
functions, and libraries associated with the electronic commerce tools,
their data store(s), and execution environments.
-Create and version control software objects appropriate to the tool
environment.
-Create SQL statements that support basic queries for testing and reporting
-Demonstrate a general understanding of the interfaces used to load and
extract data into or from the business application data store(s) to enable
electronic transactions.
-Demonstrate the ability to navigate and issue basic commands in the
operating systems supporting the tools, their data store, and the tool
environment.
-Demonstrate a fundamental understanding and working knowledge of networking
as applied to electronic commerce.

3.Demonstrate the ability to write and maintain reports using tools
appropriate to the electronic commerce tools and associated business
applications. These may be those supplied with the tools or third party
tools:
-Ability to create and execute data queries.
-Experience working with reporting tools to build professional reports
utilizing the features supported by those reporting tools.
-Ability to create professional presentation materials from electronic
commerce data.

4.Demonstrate the ability to perform systems analysis including but not
limited to the following skills:
-Ability to analyze and document high level global system architectures for
electronic commerce technologies and or applications.
-Ability to analyze the technical requirements deriving from a user request
and the capability to determine if a customization is needed or the
functionality can be supplied through existing tools. This includes working
closely with the user to understand precisely what the user is asking for,
and to assist in the technical writing of the request.
-Document the user request with estimates of time to completion of
development and or cost of purchasing a solution.
-Identify the software components (forms, reports, objects, or other as
appropriate to the supported application) and any other software objects
that will be required to satisfy the user request.
-Ability to write and execute a test plan that will adequately test the data
mapping and data flows created to implement electronic commerce
transaction(s).
-Ability to write and execute a test plan that can also be understood and
executed by a business user either within Clients or with a trading partner,
to test the electronic commerce transaction(s).

5.Demonstrate the ability to work independently and or as part of a team to
complete tasks that are assigned, including but are not limited to those
listed in this document within the time allocated.


Essential Functions:
-This position requires an Associates Degree or equivalent experience.
-This position requires one or more years of relevant experience.
-Must be able to communicate verbally, telephonically, electronically, and
in written form with team members, application users, and leaders of
supported organizations.
-Must be able to hear/understand/speak with team members at all levels
within a diverse workforce.
-Must be able to walk/climb to a variety of primary work locations,
including the ability to travel by air or automobile to remote sites,
training, meetings, or conferences.
-Must be able to work in front of a personal computer for long periods of
time.
-Must be able to lift documents/work materials up to 30 pounds in weight.
