RE: linux amd Tandem

Hello,
With Tandem you mean the Hosts Systems which run under the Compay NonStop
Himalya and now HP K-Series?
They have MIPS based systems and will offer itanium based new systems. But all
of them run the NonStop Kernel. Dont know about Linux Support for them? Are you
sure you are talking about Linux and not Unix?
How about using stratusFT Server with Windows? It basically is the Tandem
technology, with a more common OS.
It may also be likely to see a Linux Port on those Systems sooner or later,
since I heared a Stratus rep talking to me, that it was done in the free time of
some Stratus engeneers.
But even if you stick to Windows, you have some advantages: you can use more
common AS/2 Solutions.

My Company has certified the ftServer for use with the Busienss Integration
Server, which also supports AS/2. And since it is in Java, it will later Run on
the Linux Servers, too.

Subject: linux amd Tandem
My new employer mentioned yesterday an interest in hosting an
enterprise level translator and AS1/AS2 applications on a Tandem
platform running Linux.
Our current siutation is production on a mainframe that has been
mandated to be gone by year's end, and migration to a Unix
platform. The manager was musing about zero fault tolerance, hence
the Tandem
I would welcome stories of experiences and product pitches.
Thank you.
