I'm testing Gentran: Server 6.0 SP2, but I did not get problem like you
have.
When you compile the map you compile it on UNIX box. Your PC is just a
client, but software is located on UNIX box. Client communicates with UNIX
box using RPC (remote procedure call). Check with your system administrator
if it works fine.
Even on Gentran: Server 5.3 I did not get this problem. Our production box
is located across the country on East cost, but it does not take more than a
few minutes to compile some really heavy maps.
