A major aspect we took into account with UCCnet is automation. With the web
interface you have to manually enter data for every change, every addition, etc.
With GIS we are able to automate everything. Of course our Progress database
had to be tweaked a little to automate changes and additions to UCCnet items.
But, now that the foundation is in, we are completly automated from Data Entry
to UCCnet publication. It's awesome!

Yes, UCCnet still does have an online interface (Syncpoint), but it does
not support the extended attributes commonly required by certain vertical
industries.

Other than that, I always recommend choosing the tool appropriate to the
job. I have one client with 7 products, which turns into 21 GTINs by the
time you add cases and inner packs. They went with a web based service. I
have another client with over 6,000 GTINs. They went with GIS.

Cheers,

Mike
