Southern California eBusiness Forum - Meeting Wed. MAY 5

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA E-BUSINESS FORUM
MEETING ANNOUNCEMENT
May 5, 2004
NOTE THE EARLY DATE!
The topic of UCCnet just keeps popping up among our members, so our May
meeting will delve deeper into it than we have previously. If you are a
retailer or in the retail supply chain, you absolutely must know more about
UCCnet.
UCCnet links large retailers and their suppliers through a Global Registry.
Several SCeBF members have now had experience in working with UCCnet and
have published their product lists to the Global Registry. They will be
sharing some of their experiences with us and will explore the state of
UCCnet, including present barriers, successes, tactics, and best practices
for addressing the emerging giant. This is an opportunity to share your
experiences and learn from our membership as well.
Please note the unusual date for this meeting.
MEETING DATE: Cinco de Mayo, Wednesday, May 5, 2004
PLACE: Southern California Edison Montebello Service Center
1000 Potrero Grande Drive
Monterey Park
TIME: 8:30 - Coffee and Registration
9:00 - Meeting begins
10:30 - Networking break
10:45 - Program continues
12: noon - Adjournment
MEETING HOST: Southern California Edison and Southern California e-Business
Forum
TOPIC #1: "UCCnet - Real, Live Experience!"
UCCnet is a nonprofit organization, formed by Uniform Code Council Inc., to
oversee standardization and synchronization of product data in the supply
chain. The adoption rate for UCCnet is soaring because the benefits of a
UCCnet supply chain registry are clear. The big retailers such as Wal-Mart
Stores, Lowe's, Home Depot, most of the large grocery chains, and many of
their suppliers such as Procter & Gamble and others are rapidly forcing the
issue for suppliers. (Check here to see if your customers or suppliers are
UCCnet subscribers:

doesn't work, copy/paste this URL into your browser's Address box)
SPEAKER: SCeBF member Kim Waldemar, of Leiner Health Products, will provide
a brief overview of Leiner's UCCnet efforts --- why, what and how they
published their catalog to UCCnet and other implementation challenges they
faced and overcame.
Dave Taylor (Sysmark Information Systems) will discuss the data requirements
of the item registry and the various means/services available to
upload/maintain this data on the UCCnet database and to publish the data to
selected trading partners.
This will be followed by a panel of SCeBF members who are involved in
selling to retailers and providing communications and data services,
including Donna Bell (Sketchers, subject to availability), Dave Taylor
(Sysmark Information Systems), Kim Waldemar (Leiner Health Products) and
Marie Harker (QRS Corp.). Bob Laskey (Revelation 360) will be the moderator.
