UCCnet and Wal-Mart

Hello group. Thought I'd bounce this one off you. Does anyone run into the
situation with Wal-Mart where they assign different item numbers to the same UPC
(GTIN). Coming off their form-33 which provides for new item set-up, internally
the Wal-Mart Buyer will use the same UPC to represent items that are the
original base item, then if there is an on-pack attachment to the item, they use
this same UPC, and once the on-pack promotion is over, go back to using the UPC
for the base item again.
I know the assignment rules...so no need for this verbiage, however if any of
you out there share this fate I'd like to hear from you.
