RE: Error distribution.

Savita,
I am not sure how you can send the EDI Compliance errors back to the originator.
It would seem that the trading partner would clean up their data prior to
sending it to any trading partner. I can see the need to do this for repeat
offenders that don't conform to EDI standards. I have a few I would like to
send stuff back to myself.
If you find out how to do this, please pass along the information.
Good Luck in your search.. And we (EDI people) don't make the rules, we just
follow what the upper level management decide.
Denise

HHmmm. I didn't know they are charging heavy for a bad data ( enough to make
partner unhappy). By the way I am new here.
They want to trace EDI errors which fail in the translator and do not make
to the application data.
Thanks.

So, TOYS'R US is not satisfied with what they're charging back currently for
any errors? They already have so confusing compliance requirements in some
cases, but this is not enough...
I guess the report you mention will not help you. I think all compliance
problems must be checked on application level to satisfy Toys'r us
requirements.

Subject: [EDI-L] Error Message distribution.
Hi,
I need a advice for the following requirement.
There is a new requirement from our internal users to send EDI
compliance error messages with bad data to the partners. They want
to update DB2 database with these errors, extract it and send it back
to the vendors. Possibly charge them after few warnings.
We are using Gentran server for Unix 5.3 . These are boxin.err (
actual bad data )& xlcntl.err ( Error message) in the error dir. .
These files have report format. How it can be used to update the
database other than reformatting them through Unix script.
Where can I find the layout for this reports ( lftran must be using
it) . I have opened a ticket with Gentran support.
Does anybody come across with this type of requirement ?
Can I send back these EDI compliance errors using 824 document?
I know 824 is usually used for application data errors.
997s shows the rejected status for bad data but it is not good enough
for the internal users. They want to track these errors and take
action .
How does Wal-Mart tracks errors? They are known for charging heavy $s
for bad data.
Your suggestions/thoughts are greatly appreciated.
Thanks .
