RE: Real time inventory

Christy,
There are various off the shelf Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) applications.
Most of the VMI products are designed for particular vertical or industry
markets. These applications as you could imagine are fairly complex and
require buy in from various business units in an organization. If you are
dealing with consumer products I would look at CPFR (www.cpfr.org).
If you reveal your companies product(s) or industry I could possibly give
you some suggestions. Good luck.

Subject: [EDI-L] Real time inventory
Our marketing is looking for a way to be able to get
"Real-Time Inventories" from our customers to monitor
sales trends, flux in sales, low inventories, high
inventories, etc, etc.
Seems like Product Activity Data transaction EDI 852
deals with Vendor Managed Invertory. Anyone has any
expecience with this document?
My other problem is that we current don't have any
system in place that can consume customers' inventory
data. Anyone knows of a software off the shelf that
can process 852 data (not the EDI document. We have
software to transfer EDI to XML and import to a SQL
database)? or you developed a software yourself?
