The EDI industry, like many others is in a constant state of change. I don't
think that the request was out of line.
Many of these specifications are hard to find, and may take some time to
obtain. That's one of the reasons we post a whole page of links to find the
detailed mappings if available on-line.
We don't do this to put anyone out of a job, but to make our life easier.
In fact, I would suggest that anyone who spends a lot of their time mapping
documents should keep updating their skills, since that job is one that is
easily replaced and/or outsourced.
As EDI becomes more pervasive, more companies will be incorporating EDI imports
& exports into their software. The only reprieve up to now has been the lack
of 'standards'.
