RE: EDIFACT Finance and Transportation standards

RE: [EDI-L] EDIFACT Finance and Transportation standards

As the old saying goes (approximately), "The best thing about standards is
that there are so many to choose from." A little casual spelunking through
the world wide web came up with several different "standards" (more likely
implementations and/or subsets of EDIFACT et. al.) that might apply to
Finance or Transport. Here's some of what I turned up:

INOVERT specializes in international overland transport. They have some
messages that are based on EDIFACT directories. I've had to do research on
them before, and they don't maintain much of a presence on the web
(electronic trade standards...not available electronically???).

The www.gefeg.com site lists something called EDIFOR which involves
transport, logistics and traffic. They also list simething called "ITMS
Specification For The International Transport Messages Scenario" which
evidently defines a message called FORWIN (Forwarding instruction) based on
EDIFACT 88.1.

There's EDISHIP that has a Transport Work Order Message (subset of IFTMBF)
at www.ediship.org.uk.

According to EANCOM documentation supplied with the EDI2001 at
www.uc-council.org, there are Transport message implementations based on
EDIFACT including HANMOV, IFCSUM, IFTMAN, IFTMBC, IFTMBF, IFTMIN, and
IFTSTA. There are also financial messages including BANSTA, CREMUL, DEBMUL,
FINCAN, FINSTA and PAYMUL.

Undoubtedly there's more (regional sub-variants, mostly) but everyone will
get tired of reading this and I'll wear out my keyboard. 8-)

I was wondering if there were standards such as ODETTE and EANCOM for the
Finance and Transportation industries in Europe. Yes, implementation
guides for these verticals would be extremely beneficial.

Any help would be very appreciated!

Robbi,

The standards are the Finance and Transportation MIGS in EDIFACT. Are you
asking about implementation guides within specific verticals?

Mark
