I have personally seen and worked with trading
partners who use spaces in there EDI Comm ID (ISA*06,
ISA*08, GS*02, and GS*03) with no problems. A space
(0x20) is recognized as any other character would be -
translators should be able to translate any ASCII
human-readable character in either of the 4
above-mentioned elements so long as they are also not
used as segment terminators, elements separators, or
sub-element separators.
