Pretty much any character is allowed with X12 as long as both trading
partners agree.
If your TP is using a colon for one of it's delimiters, than this would
cause a problem.

I have a trading partner how doesn't want colons in K1 comment segments.
Colons are allowed under X12, aren't they?
