RE: <TECH> Where to map HCFA 1500 Box 24c type-o-service in 837P

Karl,
There is no place in the HIPAA X098A1 for the Type of Service.
Generally the PRV Taxonomy Codes will convey information relating to that,
but it does often mean a change to a business process and system. Your
customer cannot require it or request it without being out of Compliance.
SV106 is also a "Not Used" element, which means it cannot be used no matter
what.
I know this is not what you wanted to hear, but many folks have had to
figure out how to "change".

Subject: [EDI-L] <TECH> Where to map HCFA 1500 Box 24c type-o-service in
837P
For the 837 professional transaction set (X098A1) I see the SV1
segment in the 2400 loop has element 6 for the Service Type Code but
it's marked as not used. If the customer wants the Type of Service
data from Box 24C on a HCFA 1500 form, is there a correct place to
put it or do I have to force it out in SV106?
Thanks for any feedback...
Karl
