I am not a consultant, but a full time employee, and I do all of the edi
here (AS400 trustedlink) as well as program interfaces (IBM AS400 RPG), and
I actually don't make a salary of 50,000.... so... from a working girls
look at the job market (and by the way, I have 20 years experience) 37 per
hour looks reasonable..... I don't think the economy now can support the
desired 75 per hour consultants used to make. I do understand the 'proud
tradition', believe me, i have made more.... but, I have bills to pay and
obligations to meet, and personally think we are all in this boat.... and,
my thinking is, some money is better than no money.... lol... just my
opinion, and like dennis miller, i could be wrong...

Will, there is no need to get personal here. How is it I'm responsible
for sending jobs overseas? If you and others were willing to work for
low wages we would be more competitive. But is that really what we want
to do?

There are few consultants who will work for that rate..damn few. I do
this for a living. I know a ridiculous rate when I see it. As for my
head, it is bigger than my shoulders as I have let my hair grow until
the Red Sox win the World Series.

By the way, Will, I can see why you're not a fit. You think this is a
low level job? Read the description again.

Anyone with this set of skills will command far more than $35/hr.

Please note that in the phrase "to large for your shoulders" the word
"to" should be "too".

Wayne

Well by my calculations sitting at home making $0 / hr
is not going to get you kids into college any sooner
either. How about just letting this go as it is. An
opportunity for someone with Gentran experience
(obviously not a senior person) to make some money in
a still recovering economy.

Between you myself and the rest of the list, it is
very easy to see why the jobs are going overseas with
people like you and llia. The entire EDI community is
not at the senoir level. If you can remember back
that long Wayne, when you first started out a position
like this would would make you pretty damn happy to be
a consultant. Be consistant for gods sakes. You want
the jobs here but when they are offered your first
move is to insult and mock. I think your head has
gotten a tad to large for your shoulders, comments
like yours are best kept inside yourself. We need to
all work together in hard economic times, show some
support!!

Or are you just bitter because EDI Specialists wasn't
included in this contract post?
