Why bother with UNIX mappers when you can develop and test your maps on Windows
or Linux (GUIs). When you're done testing, you can export and run your maps on
UNIX (or any other platform) with a super-fast translation engine (API).
Map development, testing, deployment, and maintenance becomes a lot easier,
faster, and cheaper. And you don't interfere with your production system (i.e.
the super-fast translation engine).
