The software vendors, just like our client's vendors, don't really want
to deal with consultants. They sell
professional services, and feel that every consultant is picking their
pocket. Maybe so, but at the rates
they charge and the people that they send on engagements, they are
giving themselves a bad name. My rub
with Sears yesterday illustrates the daily frustration of a consultant.
You would think that a retailer wants to
deal with someone that is smarter than dirt, but they sure make it
hard. Ever try to deal with Wal-Mart?
Frustrated? You betcha. Just don't lose your day job ... or the
nightmare really starts.
