<TECH><GTIN> Nordstrom statement on GTIN Sunrise 2005
Per Ilia's request I am attaching the Nordstrom policy regarding GTIN usage. It
is interesting to see how different retailers are approaching this change. I
appreciate the flexibility to adopt GTIN when it makes sense for your business.
I am concerned that it may end up causing more problems for vendors. I'd be
interested in hearing from vendors on this issue.
"Nordstrom is capable of scanning and processing EAN-8 and EAN-13 symbols in
addition to the 12-digit UPC symbols at point of sale. Therefore, we are
compliant with the UCC requirements for Sunrise 2005.
Regarding the related topic of GTIN compliancy. At this time, Nordstrom has no
plans to begin requiring a 14-digit GTIN."
