RE: Now the Army is looking at CICA.

The Department of Defense (DOD) seems to be having plenty of problems
without trying to implement new technology:

Joe, don't get hung up on trivialities. This is serious e-business.
Always keep focused on the big picture.
While surfing the 'Net, I came across the Army DLMS Migration Strategy
Brief (Sep 04) at http://www.army.mil/aeioo/Logistics/references.html.
This is a presentation given by LMI, probably by Mark Crawford himself.
From a cursory glance, it appears that CICA, not UBL, has been selected
as the standard to implement in the immediate term. What's the meaning
of this? CICA got mentioned. Are you happy, Mike?
But at least another 800 lb gorilla sees the wisdom of implementing
XML.

Not to pick on the gorilla but I must ask -
Were the last three pages of the DON document produced using a
typewriter, white-out and a scanner?

Just off the press: The U.S. Navy is adopting OASIS UBL Naming and
Design Rules based on ebXML CCTS (ISO 15000-5); see
http://lists.ebxml.org/archives/ebxml-dev/200501/msg00021.html. The PDF
cover page and Memo attachment is available to be downloaded from this
page; it must be opened with Adobe Acrobat even though it is saved in
the archives with a .bin suffix.
Now that everyone who counts is on board, how much longer do you folks
think you can focus on only X12? Especially when 800 lb. government
gorillas like the Navy and GSA have committed to XML?Even the U.S.
government is adopting *international* standards.
