Jasper -

You've got a great question. Breakpoints in spEDI*map are used when you
have redundant key information and you want to trigger a new document based
on a new identifier, for instance you have a PO number in every detail-line
of your file, which changes to indicate a new EDI document:

PO12345,line item 1
PO12345,line item 2
PO12345,line item 3
POABCDE,line item 1 <--triggers new document
POABCDE,line item 2

What you want to do is more of the opposite, in that you want to trigger a
new document creation on a detail record other than a header record. Not a
common request, but it can certainly be done. This can be accomplished, in
my experience, in a temporary solution with a simple pre-process, easy to do
with Tie's toolset. You can contact me directly at this address or
" if you'd like more assistance than you get from the
other members of EDI-L. Tie's services team would have some great
suggestions for you as well, and are easy to work with. You can contact
your account rep directly or call: (877)702-4527

Thanks,

Has anyone ever used spEDI*map to create multiple Purchase Orders with
separate header and detail information from a single flat file?

I am working on a temporary solution where Oracle will create one Purchase
Order with multiple ship locations in the detail section, but I need to
convert those to single purchase orders with the shipto in the header. To
create a unique PO# I will use the PO# that comes out of Oracle and
concatenate the Release#, the POLine#, and the LineRelease#.

The PO# and Release# are in the 1000 record, the PO Details and the POLine#
are in the 2000 Loop, and the ship to and linerelease# info is in the 3000
loop.

1000
2000
3000

Can this be accomplished using "breakpoints"? If not, what approach should
I use? Before I invent the wheel, I wanted to see if it had already been
invented.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
