It really depends on what your UK customer can handle.

You cannot use AS2 with them if they can't send & receive AS2.
Most companies have some kind of VAN. Just make sure that their VAN can
interconnect with yours.

Find out what they are prepared to receive, and go with that. If the VAN
charges are high, then suggest to the customer that AS2 would be cheaper
(excluding the cost of the software).
