RE: EDI Exchange with UK Customer

Erich,
TRADACOMS is a standard that is _supposed_ to be used exclusively within the
UK. ASx doesn't care about the payload, but some VANs may not be able to
handle the TRADACOMS envelope which is completely different from an
EANCOM/EDIFACT or X12 envelope. Check with your VAN, and with your trading
partners. One thing in your favor, your TPs will speak a similar language,
even if they are using a foreign standard.
PaperPak uses EDIFACT with plain vanilla FTP for our UK partner. It saves a
lot of headaches.

Subject: [EDI-L] EDI Exchange with UK Customer
Hello all,
I am new to this group and found it by searching for help in setting
up EDI communications with a new customer of ours in the UK. Has
anybody done this and would like to help me answer a few questions?
I am a US manufacture want to transmit orders, ship
notices and invoices between us and our new UK customer. Here are
their standards:
The standards we will be using are Tradacoms Orders Version 8 or 9,
EANCOM Orders Version D96A, EANCOM Order Change Version D96A,
Tradacoms Invoices Version 8 or 9, EANCOM Invoices Version D96A,
Tradacoms Order Acknowledgement Version 4, EANCOM Order Response
Version D96A, and EANCOM Sales Report/ Inventory Report Version
D96A.
I am using Emainio Trading Partners software for all my current VAN
and AS2 customers.
Are these standards VAN transmissions or could they be AS2?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Erich
