Subject: RE: [EDI-L] Running more than one Translator/Transformation Engine
In my experience, it seems that companies run multiple translators when they
don't know better or have been misinformed by over-zealous
salespeople/consultants.

A provider calls representing Retailer A and insists that the company must
use their software to deal with Retailer A. So they purchase that setup
($$$) .
Then Partner B comes along and needs EDI as well. Instead of simply adding
on to the functionality of their first translator, they buy another and
another and so on.

I had one site that had - get this - 6 different EDI packages that included
a translator AND 6 different mailbox Ids at 6 different VANS!!!!!

When I asked why they had so many, they did not know...it was the person
before them that set it up that way...

So when I attempt to integrate them all into one solution that accommodates
all their needs into one neat, efficient package they think I'm nuts wanting
to sell them yet another EDI solution!!

And so EDI gets a bad rep...
