Maura,
We use more then one transformation engine. It started a couple of
years ago when VAN prices were very high and the push to AS2 direct
connectivity started. We needed an affordable way to establish AS2 with
a select few EDI customers. We already had webMethods and the EDI
module. So the interim solution was to use wm for the transport (AS2
protocol) and our EDI400 translator as the means to interface to our
application since it was already developed and running in production.
This was our baby step into the wm environment for EDI. Since then we
have put all new development on our wm EDI framework to also do the
translation and integration/interface into/out of our backend
application. This will be a stagged rollout of moving off our EDI400
system onto utilizing wm for all our EDI requirements. The advantage of
this is we are slowly building our EDI framework adding functionality
with every integration moved there with minimal risk to our client base.
We now have 50% of our EDI going through wm and 50% through our EDI400
system.
Thanks,
Dawn
