RE: GTIN & Labeling
After pondering this further, and examining the links sent, I still can't
get this clear in my head.
Example: Baseball cards
(All levels sold at POS, Only Shipping Case sold to Retailer)
Shipping Case:
UPC: xxxxxx11111n
Inner Box:
UPC: xxxxxx22222p
Each Pack of cards:
UPC: xxxxxx33333q
Since only the case is used as a shipping container, only it needs an
SCC-14.
However, the SCC-14 should be the same number as the product within it,
except for the 2 digits at the beginning (packaging indicator & padding 0)
and the check digit will be different if the packaging indicator is not 0.
My confusion revolves around the fact that there are 3 different UPCs
"contained" by the shipping case:
The case UPC could require an SCC-14 of 00xxxxxx11111n
The inner box could require one of 10xxxxxx22222r
The each could require one of 10xxxxxx33333s
Does it just depend on whether the products where ordered by case, inner
box, or each?
We typically affix the SCC label during production of the goods, not for a
specific customer.

There _is_ a lot of stuff found via Google... you just have to sift through
it.
I used packaging indicator carton barcode to find:

Yes. The SCC 14 would be on the case, the UPCs on the internal items.
If the case contained ONLY a single SKU (same UPC number), then the SCC14
number could be the same (with leading zeroes).
If you start shipping different inners (6 packs, 4 packs) then you can start
adjusting the 'packaging indicator'. The problem is when you have more than
7
different packs for the same UPC or mix multiple SKUs in the same box.
"You may pick from 1-7 for packaging indicators for cartons that have fixed
contents. 8 is reserved and not available for use. 9 is used when the carton
has variable contents."
