Jeff, on a personal level I am using Vonage at my house, and have a very
favorable opinion of the company and service. Strictly speaking at our
office, we have 2 T1s for voice/data, one uses VoIP and the other Voice over
ATM. To complicate the matter, we have 2 separate facilities, and rather
than cable between the 2 buildings we have a wireless 54K link between our 2
buildings that we run all our voice and data over. The data was easy, but
our Cisco router terminates the voice into a 110 connector, and we then run
the analog circuits into a VoIP gateway on one side of the wireless
connection, then on other side of the wireless connection we have another
VoIP gateway that converts back to analog that connects to our phone switch.
It may should complicated, but it works like a charm. When we expanded into
2 buildings, it was MUCH cheaper to buy all the required high speed wireless
gear, and the VoIP gateways, than it was to physically trench up the parking
lot and run cables in conduit.
