Looking for a new VAN

Personally I think FTP is an very ugly protocol and most VANs dont have
enough special extensions to make it reliable and secure. It is a very
good idea to integrate to your primary communication hub with AS/2.
AS/2 solutions should be really ubiquitous nowadays. With less costs for
external interop tests. Andy paying the certs for trading partners is
just another form of pay per partner which you can accept if yu want to
have low initial costs, however ist not required, there are alternative
offerings out there. Especially if you want to connect a single Spoke to
an Hub. (And I do see VANs will provide AS/2 Clients to their customers
for "free" in the future)
Greetings
