Tim,

I second your motion to do away with the use of test data in testing.

To test a document with test data in a production environment you have to
set up test records - test TP,s, test locations with test DUNS nos, test
products with test UPC codes, etc., etc., etc. - that have no relevance to
the database that will be used in the production environment.

This extra work is all unnecessarily time consuming and costly, and it still
doesn't test the production system's ability to correctly process production
data - which I hope is the purpose of testing in the first place.

So, no one's every heard of the putting a "T" instead of a "P" in ISA15?

RANT, Rant, rant....

been made up. It can't be processed through the application so there is no
way to actually test with it. Any transactions sent back have to be
manually doctored. What does this test?

mandate EDI it might be reasonable for them to pay a thrid party to help
bring up partners and deal with the novices. But for a trading partner that
is already EDI capable, the testing is a waste of time.
