Re: SPS Commerce Responds(ec-bp.org unholy alliance revealed)

Hi Folks,
I was told by one of my peers that she tried to become a member of ec-bp.ord and
they told her that she would have to pay $$$$ to become a sponsor and that there
was no membership for people who worked for service providers.
their website says that membership is free and they vouch for high ideals but it
is a sham - they are the mouthpieces of Owens Direct and isoft. In fact their
membership webpage is erroneous and misleading that the names mentioned there
are sponsors (financial backers) and not members.
http://www.ec-bp.org/member-sites.asp
Cecil has been seen by all of us sitting in the Owens Direct booth at many trade
exhibitions.
I think we at EDI-L should take a balanced approach to this situation and to be
swayed to such propaganda by clearly vested interests
So ec-bp.org - change your website from .org to .com and just have Owens Direct
written all over instead of just the banner. How did you certify your companies
to be members in good standing....as long as the cheques don't bounce ;)
Dora
P.S. - I still don't agree with testing fees but to bad mouth SPS and sway
people to Owens Direct is not what this forum should be used for.

My thoughts remain the same. In my experience the test data has always been
made up. It can't be processed through the application so there is no way to
actually test with it. Any transactions sent back have to be manually doctored.
What does this test?
Also, temporary sender and receiver IDs are used so this doesn't test the actual
connectivity and EDI set up. So in effect we do test by going live.
I understand that as a hub a company does not have the resources to educate
every supplier on the implementation of EDI. If a company wants to mandate EDI
it might be reasonable for them to pay a thrid party to help bring up partners
and deal with the novices. But for a trading partner that is already EDI
capable, the testing is a waste of time.

Any thoughts on this? I find this whold discussion interesting.
Don't mind the testing. Don't like the fees. Really don't like the
crappy implementation guides that make it difficult to pass on the
first try.
