I often wonder whether that's the motive for some of these. We have
received "Dear Supplier" letters where our customers are moving onto a new
VAN and the language, if you skim the letter, is that they are asking you to
move onto the VAN as well for the same reasons.

However, in all of these cases I simply file the letter (not in the round
file, mind you) and keep a watchful eye on the situation. I have never
found a case yet where a trading partner who is urging me to move to a new
VAN has followed through with any of their threats for extra charges,
disconnections, etc...

Not to say that this isn't always the case for all suppliers. We too
maintain a trading "partnership" (using the term loosely) with LNT, and they
are not the most trouble free of customers. Indeed, the analyst supporting
them won't shop in their store any more. :)
