Subject: RE: [EDI-L] EDI Standard
Prasad,

If you are talking about purchase orders for custom work, the 850 offers
descriptive segments that can be used. These include PID, MEA, and PO4.

Let's say you are selling pre-cut furniture grade lumber.

In the PO1, your customer could specify Birch, in the PID they could specify
how the Birch is dried, treated, and surfaced, in the MEA the exact
dimensions.

You will need a detailed implementation guide whether you are buying or
selling.

If you could be more specific in your request, we may be able to be more
specific in our answers.

The 832 document has most of what you need. It is used by all UPC catalogs
to
receive product information.

If the document is just being sent between yourself and the manufacturer,
you
can always ignore what is not relevant, or use pre-agreed data values.

Even the 850 has a segment (PID) that can be used for extra product
identification. PID_02 is element 750, which can have the following values
