Although W66-10 SCAC element is optional by standards, the real
question is: How does you warehouse now how to ship this order ? If
you have charged them with selecting the specific carrier, or have
standing instructions or a routing guide for them to follow, then you
do not need to specify the SCAC.

As a 3PL, I often do not receive a SCAC code in the 940, but it is
only when my business relationship with the shipper (you) has
addressed how the specific method and carrier are to be determined in
the absence of a SCAC indication in the 940.
