From your question I'm not sure whether we are talking one map or two. It
sounds as if you want to set up and process an inbound document and
integrate it into the application (accounting system, in your case). In
Gentran (regardless of the version you're running) this typically requires
one map, not two.

How long would/should it take? For someone knowledgeable in EDI and this
particular version of Gentran, it *should* take from a few hours to a few
days, depending on the complexity of the EDI message and the data going
into the business application. I estimate that for someone with no prior
knowledge of EDI or Gentran that it *would* take weeks or months to set it
up and get it working correctly.

Your consulting firm would do better service for your client by
subcontracting the job to someone with Gentran experience.
