I agree we absorb our costs and the customer absorb theirs.. Sounds like many
trading partner agreements that are signed before a trading partnership begins..
what happens then is the major corporations outsource their testing and we,
their trading partners, pay for it.
Then once the 3rd party testing is completed, there is another round of testing
with the customer directly.

Sorry to sound negative. I really like my job and all my EDI contacts I have
talked to over the years. This is the one thing that really irritates me. Let's
all play fair.

of our customers. The changes don't bother me as
much as them charging me to test their new changes they want to implement.

Just the perspective of an old executive who really did value his vendors....

I realize implementing changes to our EDI system will cost our vendors time and
money, just as it will cost us time and money to
implement those changes on our end.

I'll ask our vendors to absorb their cost of those changes. I won't ask them to
absorb ours as well; after all, we're the only party
who benefits from those changes.

That is, I think this can only be satisfactorily - and fairly - resolved
somewhere above the pay grade of your customer's "EDI
Contact"
