I too have seen these types of requests and I'm sure it plays into "it's
cheaper for them, but not for us" because it's all manual on our part.

This ties in to a letter I received today mandating that I sign up for
Order Lifecycle Visibility program. This program allows the retailer to
see the order process in real-time, so it says. What it means to me is
that we go to a website to get the order, manually key it into our
system and then manually key the invoice into the same website.
We're going backwards and not cheaply either. 3 year contracts.
Good bye EDI. Hello rip and read and keying errors and all that junk.
End of rant.....
Bob

Please speak softly because someone may hear you. I was reading on
line56.com about EDI on demand, or SAAS, software as a service. I would
mention the company but they would want me to.
You can get EDI when you want and it would always be right. Just put
your quarter in the vending machine and out pops your correctly
formatted 850. Plunk in another quarter and out pops a correctly
formatted 810.
This is the answer we've all been waiting for. We can put these pesky
EDI
jobs behind us and just hit a website, credit card or quarter in
hand, and get whatever we need.
We don't need EDI software of any kind.
