FTP Get Adapter vs. SIB VAN adapter

In GIS 3.0 we were using the FTP Get Adapter & FTP Send adapter for our SIB
VAN communication sessions. Alternatively we could have used the SIB
Adapter. Are there any advantages or disadvantages to using one or the
other? We are migrating to GIS 4.0 now and reviewing BPs that we may want
to change, modify, etc. If you use the SIB adapter then do you need to setup
the BP to invoke the X12Deenvelope BP? In the FTP Get Adapter you can
select this option, under the SIB adapter you cannot.

Thanks.
