These are what I propose:
<SALES> - designates a message marketing your product
<JOBS> - designates a message for a job opening or stating that you
are
available for jobs
<LIST> - for posting messages or questions related to this list
<TECH> - designates a message regarding technical questions/issues.
<MISC> - for off topic discussions.
<EVENT> - to list an advent such as conference or user group meeting
<PRODUCT> - for posting general questions about a product

Please use a pipe "|" to separate the identifier and the subject.

For example in this message the subject reads <LIST>|Message Filters.

These seem sensible to me but I'm not used to using them and I very
rarely make original postings to the list.

Let me re-phrase that; I rarely open a thread by making the first
posting.

Does anyone have a handy method for storing this 'taxonomy' and making
it available in the unlikely event I must use one to start a thread?

Private replies ok.
