Bob,
I would agree with your comments but I would also add the concept of
what a 'translator' is has changed over the years. Many of the newer
e-commerce vendors do not label their products as 'translators' although
this is one of their functions.

I think there is a very good point being made here, and one the
originator of
the poll missed. The idea of doing a poll covering only the supposed
"major
translators" is a fallacy. Sure, there will always be a few products in
any
field more favored than others, but the products listed in this poll did
not
cover all of those most of us would see as "major." The list was more
along the
lines of those products with the most advertising and/or name
recognition. Many
products with large customer bases were left out, and that is always a
problem
with a non-scientific poll. The questions asked depend upon the
knowledge and
prejudices of the formulator of the poll, and are not backed by enough
research
to make it valid. The real point made was the fact there is a great deal
more
to this than just a list of product names. The choice of any electronic
commerce product or service is not a popularity contest. It needs to be
based
upon hard data.

Best Regards,
Bob
