Rachel,
I can understand your reticence at Yet Another Honkin Ornery Online ID (get
it? YAHOO ID) but Rich D. points up a good solution -- that for setting
changes, the list admin can do it for you. Unfortunately, for file access
you're SOL. I have seen tools to get lists of files via email and retrieve
files via email, but YG doesn't have them.
Bear in mind that the Yahoo ID isn't an EMAIL address per se, it's simply a
login to the services
that Yahoo Groups provides, and a logical connection is made between this ID
and an email address
that they ALREADY have on file with you by virtue of your joining the list
in the first place.
However, the answer to your question boils down to this response: If
whatever you want to do involves anything other than reading or responding
to messages, then AFAIK the only way to do it is to get a Yahoo ID.
