RE: EDI Chargebacks
Hi Ron,
I am making an assumption that you plan on charging back your departments or
divisions for VAN charges created by their customers, and not charging back
you customers.
In the past, we use to chargeback our customer teams for related VAN
charges. I use to run a report on a yearly basis that broke down volume by
teams, and did the calculations to determine who would be responsible for
what. I have enough hats as it was, and I found out that I was given
another hat as the "Collector".
Be careful of the pitfalls of charging back your departments/teams. You
might want to obtain expense accounts in advance, and make sure that they do
not change them on you.
My other advice is to not chargeback your divisions, unless your manager
wants to be the Collector. My expertise is in EDI, not that of a Collector.
