Hi Erin,

Sorry for if any confusion there. You are right, I
meant implementation guideline by IG. Infact, I was
referring to 837 Professional HIPAA implementation
guide as an example. N4 segment in this guide is used
many times at various levels. But atleast on some
loops it is a required segment(Ex. 2010AA.N4). The
question was, if I can treat a 837 transaction HIPAA
complaint if I miss N402 element in the N4 segment at
2010AA loop.

Reading your msg, you probably are referring to the
standard 837, and my question seems to be in regards
to HIPAA 837 implementation.
