I have to challenge "pretty affordable". To purchase ($$$) a product to
communicate with a single customer using the Internet (which should be low
$$) to replace a current process (EDI over a VAN $), doesn't seem to be fair
($ and $.xx wise) to the vendor. As with EDI you gather the benefits when
you have more partners...it should be the same for Internet software. But
Internet software pricing needs to compete with the low cost of VAN activity
to make it worth the while for vendors to purchase and then also manage the
process.

The concerns I had with a product, such as the one Food Lion indorsed, is
the pricing to add additional trading partners. We're talking big dollars.
If you have several hundred trading partners (as many vendors in the food
industry do) the price for the software package raises with more
partners...where's the value with using the Internet and replacing the VAN?
Plus now I don't have anyone to call when my systems are down..
Debbie
