Re: Mercator / Oracle ODBC

Which version of Mercator? 5.0 (and I think 2.n) creates dates as Mercator
date fields so no conversion is necessary. With earlier versions the text
has to be formatted as "CCYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS" (19 characters) whereas
"DATETOTEXT(currentdate())" gives the date in the system's default format, e.g.
"DD/MM/YY" also you
should include the time which I think on 1.4.2 needed something like
NUMBERTOTEXT(TIMETONUMBER(currenttime())), or just add " 00:00:00". It's
a long time since I used 1.4.2 so this is all from memory.
I just noticed you mention ODBC. The Mercator native Oracle adaptor is
much better than ODBC.

Subject: [EDI-L] Mercator / Oracle ODBC
I need help with mercator and writing directly to a database.
I am trying to write a map in Mercator that will update Oracle
tables. Everything works until I get to the dates. I have created
the type tree using the Database Editior and it sets the date fields
as TEST (19). When I try to write DATETOTEXT(currentdate()) I get a
database error. Does anyone have any suggestions?
