RE: Support of CRLF characters in transmission file

Gracy,
I think it is more a matter of 'how' the data is transmitted and the
requirements of the Trading Partner and/or VAN. VANS that I know of, will
not handle data sent with the CRLF character. Too, FTP may be more
particular regarding "special characters".
In healthcare I work with CRLF terminated Segment files all the time. The
translator I work with, ECMap, has no trouble with them whatsoever. In fact
the CRLF is used heavily in Map development as unwrapped data is much
simpler to work with. I have never seen anything in the IGs that prohibit
CRLF (it is just another character that is specified in the ISA)???. If
files are sent directly to Trading Partners via async or (in test as email
attachments), the CRLF is never a problem.
Best Regards,
Mary
