RE: Spec Builder
Darren,
I'm using EDIFECS Enterprise edition (v4.0.6.602), primarily, as a means
to generate XML schemas for Microsoft BizTalk, which comes with a very
limited supply of sample ANSI X12/EDIFACT schemas.
Using EDIFECS, I can create virtually any specification I need, generate
a specification document (which I very often send to trading partners),
and export the schema to BizTalk where I can continue with the mapping
process.
FYI - Along with BizTalk XDRs, you can also export to Crossworlds
Business Objects, Gentran DDF, Gentran Unix IG, Guideline XML, HTML with
branching diagrams, Standard Exchange Format (SEF), TIE Mapping Manager
Format (EMM), or an XML schema.
(I don't know what many of these exports are....but I'm just listing
them as an "FYI".)
Another very useful part of the application is a component called
SpecGenerator, which allows you to scan real EDI transactions and
automagically generate a specification from the data.
I would highly recommend EDIFECS.

Has anyone used the package Spec Builder from EDIFECS and if so how
well has it worked for you? I downloaded the trial version to test
out from http://www.edifecs.com which has most of the features we
need disabled. I'd like to hear any user experiences with the full
version.
