RE: Team Player or Not?

I like the concept of 1 main EDI person and 1 backup. That's what happens
at my company. Is this considered a team? Well, sort of, but not really.
My backup works with EDI fulltime only when I'm not in the office (vacation,
sickness, business trip, ...). However, even though my partner doesn't work
in EDI full time, he is a very reliable, smart, and knowledgeable person
that I can trust to get the job done when I'm not here. He worked EDI for a
long time before I even came to the company, but now that I'm here, he works
on other projects and I focus on EDI.

It's a great partnership and a great situation. I get to be the sole EDI
person (exactly as I like it), but also have someone that's a great partner
as a backup, that I can truly trust whenever I'm not in the office.

I prefer the sole EDI role mainly because I'm a person that doesn't like
waiting on others, before I can get my task accomplished. There's nothing
more annoying to me than having to sit around and wait until someone else
finishes something (when they get around to it), before I can move on with
an EDI project.

That's why I prefer the solo role - I only have to depend on me and that's
just how I like it.

Sometimes being on a "team" can be stressful too! Depends on your
teammates I guess...

Bonjour Anne,

I would say that you have to be able to do both...

First when you start EDI for a company, you might have go work alone
for a
while until come the time where your day to day is taking to much time
and
it's slowing down EDI implementations or new project. Then you will
need to
get help and start building your team.

Note that being the soul EDI person on the job is stressful when you go
on
vacation or when you are sick.....

Have a pleasant Wednesday,

Robert
