For those that have not heard the details... From the horse's mouth.
Ameritech said that the system managing its toll-free numbers overloaded,
disrupting service in several Midwest states.
Ameritech spokeswoman Denise Koenig said that the server overloaded at about
9:15 a.m. Toll-free calls originating in Ohio, Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan
and Illinois would not go through. She said that those outside those states
can call in.
Denise said that service had been partially restored in some areas. She said
that the company anticipates service to fully resume by the end of the day.
