Steven Houglum will be our guest speaker for this meeting. He will talk
about the role of web services and how they will integrate with an
integration broker.

Web Evolution
Although deceptively simple, XML Web services is turning the way we
build and use software inside out. While the Web revolutionized how
users talk to applications, XML Web services is revolutionizing how
applications talk to other applications, or more broadly, how computers
talk to other computers, by providing a universal data format that lets
data be easily adapted or transformed. XML-based standards, which
including SOAP and UDDI, comprise the open methodology for application
to application communication known as XML Web services.
However, Web services don't provide the entire answer for application
integration. The is still a need for data transformation, business
process orchestation and integration with legacy systems. Todays
speaker will discribe the state of XML Web services, what functions they
can perform, and what functions you need your integration broker to
perform.
