RE: AS2 with GXS (formerly GEIS)

We were told by walmart to use btrade. ( www.btrade.com
<http://www.btrade.com> ) The software is offered free of charge for
qualified walmart suppliers. btrade supports EDIINT AS2.

My understanding of Wal-Mart's position on using third parties to handle
EDIINT AS2 is the same as their position on using VAN's generally: No. In
fact, h*ll no! The only circumstance under which Wal-Mart will permit a
third party to handle EDIINT AS2 is if that third party is doing all the EDI
functions, i.e., you supply and receive flat files, Idocs, etc., and your
outsource contractor handles the mapping to/from X12 as well as data
transport. The reasoning is that Wal-Mart doesn't want to have to deal with
multiple parties on EDI issues from document format to communications.

No help here, but coincidentally I just got off the
phone with a sales rep at GXS who was uncertain when
they would be able to offer AS2 connectivity from your
GXS mailbox. "I think they are working on it..." was
the closest I got to an actual answer.
Basically I wanted to do a price comparison between
having GXS forward the EDI across AS2 to Wal-mart
versus running it in house.
If you do get any info or feedback, please share.
