Re: Our systems group was asked to move to AS2 communications

Here is the beauty of a VAN. Your partners requesting AS2 connectivity can set
it up
with the VAN. You can continue to receive your documents from your VAN the way
you
are now. The caveat is you will now be paying the full cost of document
intercahneg
(sending and receiving).
AS2 is merely a transport mechanism over the internet. Encryption and Digital
signatures are thrown in for security.
So, why are so many people wanting to go to AS2. One word... COST. If you
have a
significant relationship with your trading partners that you don't need 3rd
party
verification of document exchange AS2 bypasses VAN charges. For my company this
can
lead to significant cost savings for minimal effort.
All the reasons for going with a VAN still exist.
